The 2023 GMC Sierra pickup trucks are due for release in 2023. The Sierra 1500 is expected to have minor changes in 2023 as it had major refreshes in 2022. The Sierra 2500HD and the 3500HD are expected to receive major upgrades and refreshes in 2023, including a new front and rear end look, an updated interior, and engine updates. The new HD refresh model is expected to be launched in 2024.
Powertrain Updates
The light-duty gasoline truck will be available in four engine configurations. Two turbocharged engines will include the 2.7-litre gasoline eight-speed automatic and the 3.0-litre Duramax turbocharged diesel 10-speed automatic. The 2.7-litre has a maximum power outage of 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The diesel 3.0-litre will have 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Other engine configurations of the light-duty truck will include choosing between the gasoline 5.3-litre or the 6.2-litre EcoTec3 engine. The 5.3-litre configuration will be available in two-wheel or four-wheel drive.
The heavy-duty truck will be available in two engine types. You’ll choose between the 6.6-litre V8 six-speed automatic or the 6.6-litre Duramax V8 Turbocharged engine. The Duramax diesel will be the most powerful as it’ll be able to blast out a maximum torque of 910 lb-ft and 445 horsepower.
Medium duty configurations will include a powertrain option of a 6.6-litre Duramax turbocharged six-speed automatic configuration. This engine will be capable of a maximum torque of 700 lb-ft and 350 horsepower.
Light-duty and heavy trucks will be built on the existing body on frame GM T1 platforms used in the 2022 predecessor models.
Safety and Technology Features
For added safety, all trucks will have maximum towing capacity and trailer sway control technology. The added tow or haul modes will prepare your truck for the heaviest loads and help your truck tow all objects with ease.
